Kinusiaga Class – Beginner (Friday Sept 4th 5:30-8:30)

Discover the beautiful art of Kinusaiga, a traditional Japanese no-sew fabric technique that transforms colorful fabric scraps into stunning works of art. In this beginner friendly class, you’ll learn how to create a decorative design by layering fabric into a pre-cut foam board. There is no sewing required! We’ll cover fabric selection, cutting, placement, and finishing techniques as you complete your own unique Kinusaiga project. Whether you’re a quilter looking for a new way to use treasured fabric scraps or simply enjoy exploring new crafts, you’ll leave with a beautiful piece of art ready to display or give as a gift. 

Supply List

Base Materials

• Base material kit (sold at idleblooms). This kit includes 1 foam board, 1 double sided transfer tape sheet, 1 wooden frame, and 1 exacto knife.
• Assorted fabric scraps:
  • A variety of cotton quilting scraps in different colors, prints, and sizes
  • Strips, squares, and irregular shapes all work well

Tools

• Small scissors for thread and fabric trimming
• Seam ripper for imbedding the fabric

Project Prep Notes

• Students are encouraged to bring a “scrap bundle” in their own color palette
• No pre-cutting required; layout will be done in class
